Presented by

Youth Research and Evaluation eXchange (YouthREX)

YouthREX is a province-wide initiative based at the School of Social Work at York University. Our Mission is to make research evidence and evaluation practices accessible and relevant to Ontario’s grassroots youth sector through capacity building, knowledge exchange, and evaluation leadership. Our Vision is an Ontario where shared knowledge is transformed into a positive impact for all youth.

Facilitators

Dr. Carol Wade

Dr. Carol Wade is an Assistant Professor at the School of Social Work, University of Windsor with over 25 years of experience in social work practice, education, and community engagement. She is deeply committed to experiential learning and has designed and facilitated numerous workshops and training programs for youth workers and social workers.

Passionate about equity, Carol incorporates critical theories and pedagogies to challenge oppressive systems and promote the best possible outcomes for young people and families. Carol’s research agenda focuses on child welfare systems and practice, youth engagement, equity-focused practice, knowledge transfer for transformative change, and the impact of historical trauma on contemporary parenting. She also explores direct social work practice, with a particular focus on self-reflexivity.

Dr. Cyril Cromwell

Cyril Cromwell is a strategist, educator, and community-based researcher dedicated to advancing equity in the social service sector. Drawing on his Ph.D. in Social Justice Education and experience as a former front-line youth worker, he brings a critical, praxis-informed lens to his work.

He currently serves as Director of Research and Evaluation at YouthREX and as a Contract Lecturer in the School of Child and Youth Care at Toronto Metropolitan University. In these roles, Cyril bridges theory and practice to strengthen capacity, foster critical reflection, and create transformative opportunities across the youth sector.
