Dr. Mary-Claire Buell is an Assistant professor cross-appointed with the School of the Environment and Department of Forensic Science at Trent University. Her research examines the sources, fate, and impacts of environmental contaminants, with a focus on both organic and inorganic pollutants in freshwater and aquatic ecosystems.

Dr. Valerie Damasco specializes in the migration of Philippine-trained nurses to Canada. Her research explores both the historical and contemporary contexts of Filipino nurse migration to North America. Recognized by CBC as one of Canada’s leading experts in this field, she is renowned for her work on the migration of Filipino nurses recruited from the Philippines and the United States for employment in Canada during the 1950s and 1960s. Additionally, Dr. Damasco advises on global healthcare academic programs. 

Yanina Chevtchouk

Dr. Yanina Chevtchouk earned her Ph.D. from a Top 1% in the World Institution (QS Rankings). She has been published in A-level journals including the Journal of Business Research, and the Journal of Product & Brand Management. She is a reviewer for both journals, and annual conferences for the Academy of Marketing Science, and American Marketing Association. Dr. Chevtchouk is currently running several research projects on brand experience, creative and cultural industries, and ethical brand communication.

Dr. Martina Orlandi’s research focuses on philosophy of mind, artificial intelligence, and moral psychology. She has published on self-control and self-deception and is currently writing a book on how resilience can lead to making irrational choices for Bloomsbury Academic. She is interested in the relationship between artificial intelligence, particularly ChatGPT, and achievements.

My research examines the role of social media in shaping our opinions and consumption decisions. A key aspect of my work examines the role of corporate social responsibility, social activism, and moral principles in these processes. The aim of my work is to provide insights that can inform better marketing practices and guide policies, as it relates to a variety of domains including, but not limited to, corporate political advocacy, offensive advertising, and brand responses to social media backlash.

My research program consists of three integrated streams of research-to-action. The first two streams focus on youth, specifically youth inequality, poverty and homelessness. The research brings into view the social, institutional and policy systems that produce conditions of inequity in the public sphere. This work includes an investigation of Canada’s move to embrace data-led governance in its efforts to resolve an emerging youth homelessness crisis.

Dr. Yana Berardini’s research focuses on findings ways to understand and promote mental health and wellness of young caregivers, or of other young people who may be farther away from opportunities. Her recent work with the Students Commission of Canada promoted youth engagement and positive outcomes for youth across Canada. Her areas of interest are young carers, self-compassion, mental wellness, and subjective well-being.
