Future logistics leaders are preparing to take on the future of supply chain, starting with a new degree at Trent Durham GTA

With self-driving vehicles and drone delivery technology set to add another complicated layer to supply chain management, a steady talent pipeline will be required to manage these complex systems and ensure that businesses and consumers get the products they need when they need them.

“In the past few years, I have met with many municipal and business leaders to identify opportunities where we could connect graduates to the job market. Logistics was frequently identified as a significant and growing component of Durham’s economy and has become even more significant as our economy recovers post-pandemic,” says Dr. Scott Henderson, dean and head of Trent University Durham GTA. “Those in the field noted the increasing complexity of supply chain operations, and a need for graduates with the mix of skills ready to tackle the most complex problems.”

Trent Durham’s new Bachelor of Arts degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management was specifically designed to meet the needs of today’s employers and will shape students into multi-skilled professionals who are able to take full advantage of technological information systems, know how to detect new business niches, and open new markets.

Based at Trent’s Durham GTA campus, surrounded by an ever-evolving manufacturing sector and robust retail hubs, the program is one of the only undergraduate Logistics & Supply Chain Management degree programs of its kind in Canada and will prepare students for their Certified Supply Chain Management Professional designation.
