I really like the Gathering Space in the First People's House of Learning. It's a quiet and relaxing room. Anywhere along the river is great too.
What I like to do outside of Academics
I love nature. I spend my free time fishing, birding, and hiking.
My thoughts on the challenges encountered by new transfer students
Coming from a small college, I was not sure what to expect for labs. But the small class sizes made me feel at home. I was worried about how much assistance I would receive from professors. Going to their office hours with prepared questions always made me feel reassured my needs were being met.
A service, resource, or tool that helped me navigate my first year or first semester
I found the Academic Advising team to be extremely helpful. Course selection was intimidating at first, but they set me up and helped me understand how to do it on my own.
My one piece of advice for new transfer students
Don't be afraid to reach out for help. Book an academic skills meeting for your first writing project/report.
