Costs Associated With a Partner Exchange
For a year abroad you can be expected to pay:
Trent Tuition and Ancillary Fees | Formal exchange students pay both full-time tuition and ancillary fees regardless of whether the student takes a part-time or full-time course load abroad. |

Residence Fees | Most of our partner agreements do not waive residence fees. If you choose to stay in residence you will pay housing fees your host university, unless otherwise stated by us. |
Food | Residences often include a meal plan. However, depending on the frequency of a host's plan, you may require additional meals or snacks. |
Airfare | The cost of a plane ticket varies by date and destination, but you can generally expect to pay at least $700 for a one-way flight. |
Backpack Insurance | Short-Term (1-5 Weeks up to 35 days): $185 Semester + Full Year (36-365 Days): $355 |
Visa/Immigration Fees | The cost of visas/study permits varies by type and destination, but you can generally expect to pay anywhere from $20 to $500. |
Miscellaneous | Local transportation, holiday and travel, pocket money, souvenirs. |
Study Abroad Placement Fee | Exchange students also pay a fee of $250 to Trent after they've been accepted to their host institution. |
