Field Instructor Criteria
Field Instructors must have the following to act as a Field Instructor:
- one year of experience in the field
- sufficient experience in their current position to be able to support students' learning
- time/capacity to provide one hour of direct, synchronous supervision
Field Instructors ideally have a social work degree, but we partner regularly with agencies that do not have a social worker on staff/available to supervise a student.
Feedback from previous Field Instructors:
- "The process was very organized when I supervised a student last year. Visit from Field placement coordinator was also positive, it helped student conceptualize their hopes for placement."
- "Our agency will continue to accept students for field placement. The longer placement, September until April allow the students to build a deeper rapport with the children they are working with. I believe there is strong support from Trent University."
- "I found the liaison that I worked with to be excellent."
- "It is a pleasure working with Trent BSW program staff. They are incredibly dedicated to supporting students growth and professional development. I look forward to working with students in the future."
