Trent University is committed to providing a safe, secure and disaster resilient environment for employees and students to work and study. In addition to personal safety, Trent emergency management plans focus on protecting infrastructure and irreplaceable research and teaching materials, and to maintain Trent’s academic mission and restore normal activities as quickly as possible. To achieve this, all members of the Trent Community must make every effort to ensure their area of responsibility has effective measures in place to deal with situations that may affect normal activities.
An emergency is defined as any abnormal situation or impending situation that constitutes a danger of major proportions to life, property, the environment, critical infrastructure and/or economic stability and demands prompt, coordinated actions that exceed normal procedures and university resources to prevent or limit loss.
Emergency Communications System
To help our Trent community stay safe and be informed during campus emergencies, we have launched the Trent U Safety App. With this free app, you can receive up-to-the-minute information as it becomes available during an emergency situation on campus.
Emergencies include:
- Fire
- Violent intruders
- Hazardous materials spills
- Unexpected serious weather conditions, such as tornados
