Staff & Faculty Organized Event

Staff & Faculty Organized Events

When a Staff or Faculty member is hoping to organize a Trent University Sanctioned activity or event, the Activity Coordinator must complete one of three Risk Management Plan Forms below as part of the Activity Risk Management Procedure. Below are the three forms to choose from:

  • On Campus - Risk Management Activity Form
  • Off Campus - Risk Management Activity Form
  • International Travel - Risk Management Activity Form

This must be completed with supervisory approval at least 3 weeks prior to the event. For any additional questions please contact the Risk Management Office.

High and Low Risk Activities & Events

Many university activities are considered low risk because they either:

a.  Do not entail risks that are any greater than the participants would face in their normal working and studying environment, such as classroom or lectures, or;

b.  Have established risk control measures already in place and appropriately documented, such as Laboratory Safety Procedures, that reduce the inherent risk levels acceptable to Trent.

However, activities that entail risks greater or different than those encountered in the regular working and studying environment and for which there are insufficient risk controls in place to reduce the risk to a tolerable level are considered high risk.

Trent University respectfully acknowledges it is located on the treaty and traditional territory of the Mississauga Anishnaabeg. We offer our gratitude to First Peoples for their care for, and teachings about, our earth and our relations. May we honour those teachings.
