The Frost Centre for Canadian Studies and Indigenous Studies invites you to a North at Trent lecture featuring guests from Nordic countries to discuss health care delivery in remote communities.

"AI-Health Nordic: AI-Driven Healthcare for Remote Communities" will take place Monday 5 October 2026 at noon, with limited in-person space in Science Complex 108, or online via zoom (registration is required)

This presentation explores pilot projects in Finland, Sweden, and Norway. The project tests AI-powered healthcare models that strengthen local capacity and make rural health systems more sustainable. It brings together SMEs, healthcare providers, and research institutions to co-develop practical, reliable digital solutions tailored to the region’s cultural and linguistic diversity.

About our speakers:

Tatiana Anderson is a Project Manager at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK), Finland, and manages the Interreg Aurora project AI-HEALTH Nordic – AI-Powered SmartCare for Remote Communities. She has several years of experience in international RDI projects, EU-funded regional development and cross-border cooperation in the European Arctic. Her current work focuses on how AI-supported solutions can improve access to healthcare in sparsely populated and remote communities through cooperation between universities, municipalities, healthcare providers and SMEs.

Johanna Takanen is an RDI Specialist at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK), working with regional and international development projects that support innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable growth. She develops and prepares funding initiatives, facilitates collaboration between businesses, public organizations and research partners, and supports the creation of new development opportunities in Northern regions. Her professional interests include strengthening innovation ecosystems, entrepreneurship opportunities and regional resilience in Northern and Arctic regions.
