Community Building in a Time of Truth & Reconciliation
Lecture Abstract:
In the 10 years since the Truth & Reconciliation Commission Report was released, we as Canadians have been going through a process of learning, unlearning and relearning. This is crucial for Truth & Reconciliation as it involves acknowledging the past, understanding its impact, and being open to new perspectives. In this conversation, stories will be shared that illustrate how the process of learning, unlearning and relearning is important to building healthy and inclusive communities.
About Victoria Grant:
Victoria Grant is of the Loon Clan, Teme-Augama Anishnabai, and a member of the Temagami First Nation. Victoria, President and owner of Moving Red Canoe, operates a unique professional services firm focused on Aboriginal affairs. She is an avid volunteer and a passionate voice for a more robust Aboriginal presence within the philanthropic world. Victoria is Past Chair of Community Foundations of Canada and Past Chair of The Circle on Philanthropy and Aboriginal Peoples in Canada, and a past member of the Advisory Committee of the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award.
