Woman of Impact: Trent Durham Sociology Professor Recognized by the Region of Durham

Dr. Adwoa Onuora, Trent Durham Sociology professor, was honoured as a Woman of Impact at this year's Region of Durham International Women's Day Celebration. Professor Onuora was recognized for her dedication to fostering a community engagement and analysis of how factors such as race, age, ethnic origin, class, and accessibility intersect with gender identity and sexual orientation to exacerbate disparities in health outcomes for Black/African-descended communities. 

Trent History Professor Awarded Distinguished Spanish Civil Order of Chivalry

Dr. Antonio Cazorla-Sánchez, esteemed Trent History professor and one of North America’s leading experts on the Spanish Civil War, has been awarded the Order of Queen Isabella the Catholic. As Spain’s highest civilian medal, the award is given to individuals who have presented outstanding promotion of international relations though contributions to other nations.  

Trent Durham Anthropology Professor Recognized for International Research Project

Trent Durham Anthropology professor, Dr. Helen Haines, has been presented with the Stefansson Medal from the Explorer Club Canada Chapter for her work leading the Ka'Kabish Archaeological Research Project in Belize. She was honoured for her archeological work on the project, as well as her commitment to preserving the ruin and working to turn it into a national park.
