Dr. Orsten was a faculty member at Trent for over 25 years

The Trent University community is saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Elisabeth Orsten, a long-time faculty member in the English department, who worked at the University for over 25 years.

Dr. Orsten began her career at Trent in 1967 as a full professor in the department of English, a position she held until her retirement in 1993. Dr. Orsten served as the senior tutor of Champlain College from 1980-1981. In 1993 she was honoured for her years of service at Trent with a 25-year service award.

Below is an excerpt from Dr. Orsten’s obituary notice:

Elisabeth M. Orsten, M.A. Oxon, Ph.D. Toronto, resident of Peterborough since 1967. Professor emeritus of Trent University, she was born in Vienna, Austria and spent many years in England and the U.S. before moving to Canada in 1957. Predeceased by all her family, she is mourned by friends in all three countries. Private Memorial Service. No flowers, but donations to Lakefield Animal Welfare Society or to the charity of your choice.

The University extends heartfelt sympathies to the friends of Dr. Orsten and to all who knew her at Trent.
