#FacesofTrentU: From Introvert to International Ambassador
Biology student, Lakshika Bansal gains confidence through her Trent student experience
“I used to feel ‘How will I adjust in a completely new country with completely new culture?’ But everyone at Trent is so welcoming that they make you feel at home. I became more comfortable, and through hands-on learning opportunities gained skills in problem solving and time management.”
Since arriving on campus from India, second-year Biology student Lakshika Bansal, quickly embraced student life here at Trent. The confidence and life skills she has acquired saw her rising to the challenge of connecting with new international students as the first-year representative for Trent International Student Association (TISA), helping these students to settle in and feel at home here at Trent. This year, she joined the Trent Visual Arts Network’s executive team and serves as the global ambassador for TISA.
One of Ms. Bansal’s most memorable Trent experiences was attending Orientation Week in her first year, where she not only made new friends, but was introduced to one of her favourite spots at Trent – the Athletics Centre. Working out and playing basketball have been winter highlights for Ms. Bansal.
