Trent University Durham Greater Toronto Area will equip the next generation of change leaders for success with the launch of a new 16-month Master of Management in Strategic Change Management degree – the first of its kind in Canada.

“The global pandemic has accelerated the pace at which our world is changing, and will no doubt leave lasting effects on how we work and interact,” says Dr. Scott Henderson, dean and head of Trent University Durham GTA. “This new degree is especially relevant as businesses cope with how best to prepare for a post-pandemic world. Proactive leadership and the ability to adapt will be key to success in these rapidly changing conditions. The new Master of Management in Strategic Change Management will shape future leaders to be specialists in effecting organizational change.”

A unique, career-enhancing feature of the new master’s program is a hands-on summer work integrated learning placement, designed to give graduates the competitive edge in the world of business in Canada and around the world.

“Students will have the opportunity to study change management strategy, crisis management, and simulation-based decision making. To help grads effectively implement organizational change, courses on negotiation and conflict resolution will also be a key feature of the program,” says Dr. Bruce Cater, program director and professor of Economics at Trent. “Our aim is to cultivate leaders who will not only manage their organizations' day-to-day operations, but also prepare and lead their organizations' responses to external shocks, including recessions and pandemics.”

Located on the doorstep of the country’s financial and business hub, Trent Durham GTA will provide students access to diverse career connections and pathways. On campus, students will have the opportunity to study in small-group learning environments alongside expert faculty in the fields of business, economics, accounting, change management, human resources management and negotiation, marketing, finance, law and business simulation.

The new degree builds on Trent’s popular Master of Management (M.Mgt.) program. Since launching three years ago, the program has become synonymous with attracting high-calibre applicants from within Canada and around the world. With growing global demand for change leadership, Trent anticipates that the new Master of Management in Strategic Change Management will be equally popular with both domestic and international students.

Part of the prestigious School of Business at Trent, the M.Mgt. in Strategic Change Management will begin in September 2021. Applications for the program are open now until February 1, 2021.
