Best-Selling Author and Trent Alum Linwood Barclay Launches New Book

Former Toronto Star columnist, New York Times Bestselling author and Trent University alumnus, Linwood Barclay ‘73 is adding another novel to his roster. On July 28, Mr. Barclay’s new thriller, Broken Promise hits shelves.

Broken Promise is the first of three linked novels about his fictional upstate New York town Promise Falls. The book, was recently featured in a Toronto Star piece titled Summer Reads: 35 Books you won’t want to miss.

Mr. Barclay graduated from Trent with a degree in English and has since made an exceptional career for himself as a writer. Mr. Barclay returned to his alma mater in November 2013 as a Writer-in-Residence. Upon returning at Trent, he said. “Back when I was a Trent student - and it was a long time ago - I had the good fortune to meet, and become friends, with Margaret Laurence when she was in this position. It was one of the most rewarding and profound experiences for me while at Trent." Mr. Barclay was also recently in attendance of the 21st Lakefield Literary Festival.
