Trent Excalibur Men’s Soccer to Host First-Ever OUA Playoff Game
Excalibur secure third seed in OUA East after record-breaking regular season
The Trent Excalibur men’s soccer team will make history on Wednesday, October 21, when it hosts the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in the first OUA men’s soccer playoff game hosted by the program.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Justin Chiu Stadium, as the Excalibur look to continue their historic season in front of their home crowd.
Trent secured the third seed, their highest ever, in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East Division after finishing the regular season with a 7-5 record. The seven wins and 21 points establish new program records for victories and points in a single season, surpassing the previous marks of six and 19 set in 2025.
The playoff berth also marks the first time in program history that the Excalibur have qualified for the postseason in consecutive seasons. Last year, Trent dropped a 3-1 decision to the nationally ranked Carleton Ravens in the opening round.
The University of Toronto Varsity Blues enter Wednesday’s matchup as the sixth seed in the OUA East Division, having finished the regular season with a 5-3-4 record. The Varsity Blues won both contests against the Excalibur this season.
Hosting the first-round matchup represents another significant step forward for Trent men’s soccer, bringing OUA playoff action to Justin Chiu Stadium for the first time.
Admission to this historic game is $15 at the gate. Trent students with valid student ID receive free admission, as do children 12 and under when accompanied by an adult. Excalibur season passes are not valid for postseason games.
Fans who are unable to attend can watch the game live on oua.tv or follow Trent Excalibur on social media for live game updates.
