New Look, Bigger Stories: A New Era for Trent Magazine
Reimagined flagship publication showcases the people, ideas, and discoveries extending Trent University’s impact far beyond campus
Trent University has launched its newest issue of Trent Magazine, unveiling a reimagined flagship publication with striking new design and visuals, enhanced digital features, and impact stories that connect the University to life beyond campus.
The new Trent Magazine combines feature articles, stunning photography, and interactive online content to create a more immersive experience for alumni, friends, and members of the Trent community.
“Trent has incredible stories to tell about the people, research, and experiences that are creating impact in our communities and around the world,” says Naomi Handley, publisher of Trent Magazine and director of Alumni Engagement & Services at Trent University.
“The new edition reflects that impact in a fresh and engaging way, giving readers deeper connections to the learning, research and innovation happening across the University and its alumni network.”
The inaugural July issue showcases the ideas, discoveries, and stories shaping conversations far beyond campus. Readers will journey beneath the winter ice of the Great Lakes with Dr. Maggie Xenopoulos, Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Global Change of Freshwater Ecosystems, who reveals what lies beneath the frozen surface and why freshwater ecosystems, in all seasons, are on the front lines of climate change. Award-winning alumnus Phillip Dwight Morgan '03 (Champlain College) examines identity, belonging, and the power of storytelling to challenge assumptions, build empathy, and foster understanding. The issue also brings readers onto campus, exploring how the spaces we inhabit become lifelong touchstones and revealing why Trent's iconic landscape continues to inspire connection and nostalgia for generations of alumni.
The redesigned magazine introduces a refreshed editorial identity, featuring new nameplate, updated typography and colour palette, and a stronger emphasis on long-form features, photography, and contemporary design. A new digital edition expands the experience with interactive content, including behind-the-scenes videos and enhanced accessibility features, creating a more engaging and inclusive publication for alumni around the world.
More than a magazine, the annual publication serves as a showcase for the thinkers, changemakers, researchers, and alumni driving Trent's influence across Canada and beyond.
The inaugural issue of the reimagined Trent Magazine is now available online and will be mailed to subscribers in August.
