The Social Work Gala is designed as a dynamic and engaging evening that centers appreciation, learning, and connection within the social work community.
The evening will begin with the Placement Café (4:00 PM – 5:00 PM), an interactive and informative space where general year social work students can connect directly with Field Instructors and Social Work Professional Year Students regarding placement experience. This segment offers students the opportunity to learn about agency work, explore placement experiences, and gain valuable insight into professional and further educational pathways. It is also a space for mentorship, dialogue, and relationship-building, supporting students as they prepare for their future in the field.
Following this, the Field Instructor Appreciation Ceremony (5:00 PM – 5:30 PM) will formally recognize the essential role that Field Instructors and community partners play in social work education. This segment honours their mentorship, dedication, and commitment to “paying it forward” by investing in the growth and development of students. It is a moment of gratitude and reflection on the impact of their contributions to the profession and community.
The evening will then transition into Social Networking & Performances (5:30 PM – 6:45 PM), creating a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with students, faculty, and community organizations while enjoying live performances and creative showcases. Vendors, community partners, and representatives—including OASW—will be present, offering a rich environment for networking, collaboration, and community engagement. Guests will also enjoy food trucks, catering, and interactive elements such as a photobooth, enhancing the overall experience.
The gala will conclude with the AIDE Project Closing Remarks & Honours (6:45 PM – 7:00 PM). This final segment will highlight the purpose and impact of the AIDE Project while recognizing key contributors and reflecting on the collective efforts that made the event possible. It serves as a meaningful closing that reinforces the importance of advocacy, inclusion, development, and education within social work.
Throughout the evening, attendees are invited to engage in a space intentionally designed to celebrate community, honour mentorship, and strengthen connections across the field.
Upon arrival, guests will check in at the registration table to receive their event pass and food vouchers, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
Please RSVP by March 27 to be able to receive your networking badge at the event.
