Frost Reads: Author Readings + Q&A Session

Select books will be available for purchase – Light refreshments will be served – all are welcome!

This event will feature:

Sylvie Bérard, Professor & chair of French and Francophone Studies, will read a selection from her translation of The Tiger Flu by Larissa Lai, a science fiction novel reimagined in French as Les Sœurs de la Muée. This book has been awarded one of Canada’s highest literary distinctions, the Governor General’s Literary Award for Translation.

Phil Alalibo, a PhD in Canadian Studies student, will share a section of one of his published works - A Day in Our Skin: A Struggle Between Race and Resilience.

Alison Norman and Rick Hill will be sharing from Behind the Bricks: The Life and Times of the Mohawk Institute, Canada's Longest-Running Residential School. Rick – Richard Hill, Sr. – is an elder from Six Nations and Alison is an historian working with Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada.

Mark Dickinson, Professor in Canadian Studies will read a selection from A School for Tomorrow: The Story of Canada World Youth
