The Thomas H. B. Symons seminar series continues with an exciting lineup of presenters. This series focuses on graduate student research and considers the intersections between science and humanities research.
The evening features two graduate student researchers: Angela Slater-Meadows, a master’s student in Canadian and Indigenous studies and Caylin Graham, M.Sc. candidate in the Psychology program. Join us on Thursday, February 13 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in Scott House 105 at Traill College. Come for the free snacks and stay for the research!
Angela will discuss working while parenting at Trent. Angela was recently awarded presidential endowment funding to support a public exhibition of her MA research - Working While Parenting at Trent – A Photovoice Study of Trent Working-parent Experiences.
Caylin will discuss Does Size Matter? A Preliminary Framework Depicting the Role of Context in Effect Size Interpretation and Reporting. Caylin’s research focuses on psychological research methods and statistics. In particular, they are focused on a measure known as the effect size and how that measure is impacting the field of social psychology. The goal of the research is to help develop a framework that can be implemented in psychology to aid researchers in calculating and interpreting effect sizes.
It shall be an exciting evening of sharing and discussing!
