The Trent Excalibur women’s lacrosse team are bronze medal champions after competing at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Patterson Cup Championships, hosted at Queen’s University. The women started the weekend off strong, defeating the Toronto Varsity Blues 16-10, Natalie Fournier (Georgetown, ON) leading the Excalibur with five goals.

The Excalibur came out of the round-robin with a 2-0 record after defeating the Brock Badgers 17-3 on Saturday. Trent took charge of the game immediately, with Tegan Hickey (Peterborough, ON) putting a goal in a mere 30 seconds into play. Rookie Tyler McDonald (Lynden, ON) followed with another goal soon after and ended the game with six goals for the Excalibur.

The Excalibur faced Queen’s in the semi-final game, ultimately falling 13-5 to the Gaels, sending the team to the bronze medal game to face Toronto Varsity Blues on Sunday, dominating with a 15-4 win. Trent got the game going early, scoring two with efforts from Grace Shaughnessy (Peterborough, ON) and McDonald. McDonald, who was named Rookie of the Year during the bronze medal ceremony, would go on to obtain a total of seven goals for the Excalibur. Goalie Kieran Gerow (Brighton, ON) was named OUA Most Valuable Defensive Player. Gerow and Shaughnessy were named OUA All-star’s at the medal ceremony.

This bronze medal adds to the team's growing list of achievements following their 2022 silver medal and two consecutive gold medals in 2019 and 2021.
