Celebrating Our Graduating Students: Trent Colleges Style

Virtual receptions bring collegiate communities together to celebrate successes of Trent’s newest graduates

To celebrate the end of their academic journeys at Trent, over 250 students, together with their families and supporters, recently joined Trent’s Colleges for virtual graduate receptions.

“Graduation is a bittersweet time for us at LEC,” shared Dr. Christine Freeman-Roth, principal of Lady Eaton College. “We are so proud of our students for achieving this incredible goal, and we are excited for their new adventures, but in truth, we are sad to see them leave. This reception is a wonderful chance to celebrate their success and to encourage them to stay in touch. We hope they will always feel comfortable at home, welcomed by friends when they return to Lady Eaton College for a visit.”

Celebrating the end of an era

Each graduate reception was unique and captured the true essence of each College. Each also had a common purpose – honouring their graduating students.

From a virtual campus experience with Gzowski College where students could explore campus, and complete a scavenger hunt, to a performance by alumni band I, the Mountain and a congratulatory video from faculty, alumni and staff at Otonabee College, to a Lady Eaton College themed game of Jeopardy, the Colleges pulled out all the stops to make these receptions special for students.

“I enjoyed that the speakers were casual and so encouraging to graduating students,” said Claudia Lecaro, graduating Psychology student and emcee of the Lady Eaton College graduate reception. “I could feel they were very proud of us. I loved having a space to interact at the end.”

There’s always a place for you at Trent

As our graduating students leave Trent and make their mark on the world, we hope they will remember their time at Trent fondly, like Kennedie Close, a graduating Social Work student and member of Champlain College.

“Trent and Peterborough have become my new homes. The communities I have become a part of have been just as valuable as my education and I am so grateful to have had this experience.”

Congratulations to all of our graduating students!
