Trent University Saddened to Learn of the Passing of Sean Hudson
Mr. Hudson recently graduated with a master’s in Environmental & Life Sciences
The Trent community is saddened to learn of the passing of Sean Hudson, a 2020 graduate of the Environmental & Life Sciences master’s program.
His research at Trent focused on conservation efforts for the Eastern Massasauga rattlesnake. In recognition of his academic achievements, Mr. Hudson is the recipient of a 2020 President’s Medal, one of the University’s highest honours for graduate students. While at Trent, Mr. Hudson also received the Muskoka Summit on the Environment (MSE) Research Grant and the David & Joyce Woods Graduate Scholarship.
Below is an excerpt from his obituary:
“He had an endless curiosity for the natural world, and had a diversity of interests. These included adventurous cooking, beekeeping, travelling, rock-climbing, and reading science fiction. Sean enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and his girlfriend... Sean had a boundless appetite for learning and sharing knowledge, as well as an open mind to share the passions of his friends.”
In honour of Mr. Hudson, the flag atop the Bata Library will be lowered to half-mast position on June 16, 2020, the day of his virtual funeral service.
The University extends heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Hudson’s family and friends, and to all who knew him at Trent University.
