“For many people looking at coming to Trent to study, or like me for an exchange, the college system can seem like a formality that means nothing more than where you live in your first year. I assure you it stretches well beyond that. The college system has given me a grounded sense of identity at Trent, not only in the school as a whole but the small playful rivalries between the colleges and the banks. From events to gatherings and family dinners, it really is your home away from home. Rest assured that my Gzowski scarf hangs proudly next to my Saltire flag as there is no other college I would want to be in.  I still know many of the Gzowski cheers and have taught them to my friends from my home university in Scotland - The University of the Highlands and Islands.”

Theo Williamson is a third year Political Studies student from Scotland, who is spending his year abroad at the Trent Peterborough campus. Ever since he was a child, Mr. Williamson had admired the beautiful nature of Canada and its diverse culture. He chose Trent because of the school’s collegiate system, which gives international and domestic students a great sense of family and warmth from the moment you arrive. Mr. Williamson has found friends in many places, including the Orientation Week staff and the College office.

Gzowski is incredibly lucky to have Theo as part of their community. He is always willing to lend a helping hand, and his passion for college spirit is unmatched. Mr. Williamson’s time at Trent may be short, but the legacy he has left will last much longer.
