Trent University’s Legacy Society Highlighted on National Philanthropy Day
Philanthropy: For the Love of humankind flourishes at Trent 365 days a year
On National Philanthropy Day, Trent University is thanking our generous family of donors and volunteers. As an institution profoundly anchored in philanthropy, Trent has a history of giving and volunteerism that stands out among Canadian post-secondary institutions. Donor support from the Trent community is vital to help ensure that Trent University remains a vibrant, transformative place of learning and world-class research.
In celebration of National Philanthropy Day 2019, Trent is highlighting the impact of legacy giving; it is one of the many ways that donors can leave a lasting impact on Trent University for years to come.
Joining Trent’s Legacy Society is not just about paying it back, but also about paying it forward. As founding president of Trent University, Professor Thomas HB Symons, once said:
“A university is a growing, living legacy – and it needs all kinds of support.”
Countless members of the Trent community have already arranged legacy gifts in order to contribute to the continued growth and excellence of here at Trent. Their legacy gifts will make a significant impact in the lives of future Trent students for years to come.
“My experience at Trent changed the course of my life. I learned to believe in myself, think critically, and follow my instincts,” said Leah Eustace ’86, a Legacy Society member. “Thirty years later, it is my privilege to donate and also confirm my bequest, to give others the same life-changing opportunity that set the stage for my success.”
Legacy gifts such as making a bequest to Trent University in your Will, making Trent a beneficiary of your life insurance policy, leaving the remainder of your RRSP or RRIF to Trent, or donating property to the university are all ways in which you can invest in the Trent students of tomorrow. As Trent is a relatively small university, gifts of any size can make a huge impact.
