Members of Trent University's External Relations and Advancement team pose with CCAE awards presented in recognition of accomplishments related to indigenous relations, the campaign touchdown event and donor recognition

Trent University’s External Relations and Advancement team has taken home some incredible honours from the recent Canadian Council for Advancement of Education (CCAE) with three awards recognizing accomplishments related to indigenous relations, campaign touchdown event and donor recognition.

“These awards showcase how philanthropy is deeply rooted in everything we do at Trent University,” said Julie Davis, the University’s vice-president of External Relations and Advancement. “I am proud of the excellent work being done by the advancement team. We lead by example in everything that we do from Indigenous relations to thanking everyone involved with the Campaign. It’s just one of the ways we think differently as an institution and strive to challenge the way you think.”

The CCAE’s Prix d’Excellence recognizes outstanding achievements in alumni affairs, public affairs, communications, marketing, development, advancement services, stewardship, student recruitment and overall institutional Advancement. This year Trent University won gold for Best Indigenous Relations Initiative, silver for Best Development Event and bronze for Best Donor Recognition Initiative.

This year Trent’s 2019 CCAE Prix d’Excellence awards include:

Gold Medal
The Best Indigenous Relations Initiative for the re-creation of The Great Walk, where 200 members of the Trent and Curve Lake First Nation’s community walked 17 km to symbolize friendship and reconciliation.

Silver Medal
The Best Development Event for the touchdown of Trent’s most ambitious fundraising campaign to date – Unleash the Potential.
“
Joyful involvement by the Trent family in an interactive experience was the secret to the event’s success,” explained Sherry Booth, director of Philanthropy. “We really wanted to thank everyone from the bottom of our heart for the completion of Trent’s most ambitious campaign to date. Collaborating at the Heart of Trent employee appreciation event made it personal for the Trent family.”

Bronze Medal
The Best Donor Recognition Initiative for one-of-a-kind donor appreciation items made from upcycled Bata Library trellis’ wood to give donors at all level a piece of the Bata Library to celebrate its grand renewal into the library of the future.
