Caitlin Carachi, third-year Nursing student

Caitlin Carachi

“I am gaining vital hands-on experience in the stroke unit at the local hospital. The best part is helping care for patients and watching them recover. It is truly rewarding.”

Gaining the skills and confidence needed to become a talented nurse, Caitlin Carachi’s Trent experience has been driven by hands-on learning. The third-year Nursing student’s clinical placements and on-campus labs allow her to connect with patients on the road to recovery.

Generous support from Trent donors enables experiential learning opportunities such as rehabilitating and caring for patients in the stroke unit at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Ms. Carachi has developed valuable skills like charting, taking vitals, and learning how best to interact with those in her care, and finds every step her patients make towards health both rewarding and purposeful.

Another placement gave her the opportunity to educate children through the city’s public health unit on practical science topics and day-to-day health. Such experiential learning opportunities are critical to Ms. Carachi’s journey as both a Trent student and a future nurse.

Learn more about how donations create purposeful hands-on learning experiences at Trent.
