The Trent University Durham Health Promotions Team is excited to announce that they will be hosting jack.org for a Jack Talks event in the front atrium on Tuesday March 7.
In 2009 Jack Windeler was a first year student at Queen’s University. He was bright, funny, and just beginning his adult life. He was also struggling with mental illness and in March 2010 died by suicide. Jack’s parents decided to help other university students struggling with mental health by ask family and friends to make donations to Kids Help Phone. The support was so overwhelming they decided to do more and The Jack Project (jack.org) was born.
The Jack Talks event provides a space for training youth speakers to talk about mental health: stigma, tools, strategies, experiences, how to look out for each other, and how to look out for ourselves. More about the nationwide initiative can be found using the links below. Everyone is welcome.
Hosted by the Trent Durham Health Promotions Team (Don-Pierre, Jocelyn, Samira, and Candice Stoliker)
