The meaning of the term ‘bitcoin’ may still be a mystery to many people and as society moves toward a progressively more cyber-focused age, Trent University chancellor, alumnus and award-winning author Dr. Don Tapscott ‘66 hopes to define and explain the game-changing concept in his upcoming Chancellor Lecture series talk at Trent University Durham – Greater Toronto Area on Tuesday, November 22, beginning at 7 p.m.

In his new best-selling book, (co-authored with his son, Alex Tapscott) Blockchain Revolution, How the Technology Behind the Bitcoin is Changing Money, Business, and the World, Dr. Tapscott is the first to thoroughly explain why blockchain technology – an open, distributed, global platform – will fundamentally transform the way we move, store and manage value online.

“Hosting Dr. Tapscott at our campus is an extraordinary privilege,” noted Joe Muldoon, head of Trent University Durham. “As a global trailblazer in media, innovation, and the economic and social impact of technology, our students and the wider Trent community will most certainly benefit from his thought-provoking lecture. He is a remarkable intellectual and we’re looking forward to welcoming him back to Trent.

The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. will start the evening; Dr. Tapcott’s lecture will begin at 7 p.m., followed by books sales and signings by Dr. Tapscott. Guests are also encouraged to bring a business card to be entered in a draw to win a free copy of Blockchain Revolution.
