Trent students will have access to a new and improved Student Health Services thanks to a newly completed renovations.

The clinic welcomed students, staff, faculty and community partners to an open house in their recently renovated space on October 18. With a few short remarks, and a celebratory ribbon cutting by Alaine Spiwak, president of the Trent Central Student Association, attendees were invited to tour the new space.

“As a student I think this is a great opportunity for Trent University and Health Services because as a growing institution we get more and more students coming to the University,” said Jessica Randell, fourth-year student, and prime minister of Lady Eaton College who was in attendance to tour the clinic. “Health Services are an essential part to a comfortable and successful university experience. This expansion will allow Heath Services to reach more students in a timely manner."

The clinic expansion took place over six weeks during the summer and involved the addition of two examination rooms, new electrical and ventilation systems, a nursing assessment and treatment room, and improved utility space.  These changes will allow Student Health Services to bring in more health care providers, offer more appointment times, and operate more efficiently.

Dr. Lillian Revel who has been a contract physician at Student Health Services for 12 years stated, “It’s inspiring to come into such a bright and spacious professional workplace. We are looking forward to having additional healthcare providers support the students.”

This project was funded by the reserve health services budget coming primarily from past student fees, along with the Trent Central Student Association, and Trent University.  Student Health Services wishes to thank Trent University’s past and present students, along with all contributors who helped make this renovation possible.
