Long Night Against Procrastination event draws a crowd at Bata Library

With papers and lab reports piling up, and exams looming on the horizon, Trent students gathered at Bata Library on March 1 to ward off the stress of the end of semester at the bi-annual Long Night Against Procrastination (LNAP

The event, hosted at Bata Library from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. saw staff and department members working alongside students to help ease their anxieties about their demanding end-of-semester workload. Students had the opportunity to meet with a variety of departments including Academic Skills, Librarians, and Rebound Guides during a period of drop-in appointments throughout the night.

“As an upper year student, it’s really cool to be able to support the first-year students during a really stressful time and let them know they’re not alone. We’re all going through this together and this event makes things much more manageable,” said Megan Lawson, a fourth-year Concurrent Education student who worked the event and also took advantage of the multiple resources offered at LNAP.

In addition to the appointments, workshops were held throughout the evening, all in support of a healthy and balanced lifestyle for students. Procrastination, time management, studying habits, and sleeping, and eating tips were all discussed and students were provided with free healthy study snacks and massages.

“It’s exciting to see how many people got involved in this year’s event, students, staff and various departments attended,” said Andrea Maxie, an academic skills instructor and the coordinator of the event. “If students can take away one thing from our event, I would just want them to feel some sense of empowerment on how they’re going to take that next step for their academic success. Whether that means writing a line of their essay, or organizing their notes to start studying for finals.”
