Craig Barclay to join Trent Excalibur coaching team

Trent University Announces New Women's Volleyball Head Coach

Trent University is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Barclay as the new women’s volleyball head coach starting as of July 1, 2015.

In his new role, Mr. Barclay will provide exemplary leadership of the women’s volleyball program which will be established through coaching and recruitment while also promoting academic success for the student-athletes on the team at Trent.

“Trent Athletics is very pleased to welcome Craig Barclay to our Excalibur coaching team,” said Deborah Bright-Brundle, director of Athletics and Recreation at Trent University.  “As Head Coach of the Women’s Volleyball Program, Craig brings a depth of experience in coaching, playing and athlete development experience. We look forward to having him join our already strong volleyball program, continue to build on its success and grow the volleyball team for the future.”

Mr. Barclay joins the Trent Excalibur coaching team from his first full season as the head coach of the Fleming College women’s volleyball team. Previous to his local coaching experience, Mr. Barclay was a volleyball player for 15 years, most recently with Humber men’s volleyball team where he saw a successful season, earning an OCAA silver medal and CCAA bronze medal. Mr. Barclay also spent three years as an assistant coach to the Lakehead University women’s varsity volleyball team and has his Level 3 NCCP Volleyball certification.

“I am thrilled to be joining Trent University as their Women’s Volleyball Head Coach,” said Mr. Barclay. “Trent University women’s volleyball program has a very strong track record of success and I am excited to continue the strong tradition of success and to build upon that to take the program to the next level.”

The Trent Excalibur Women's Varsity Volleyball team is a strong contender in the OCAA East Conference, having raised their level of competition each year. This past 2014/2015 season, the Women's Varsity Volleyball team finished fourth capping off a very strong season.
