Trent introduces new fall 2015 Residence Award for students from Peterborough County

Local Students Encouraged to Discover Benefits of Residence Life at Trent with New Award

Local students in the Peterborough Region will have the opportunity to explore and combine all of the benefits of residence life at Trent University with staying close to home this fall with the introduction of a new Residence Award.

Offered exclusively to local students choosing to study full-time at Trent University in the 2015/16 academic year, the Residence Award presents eligible students with $1,000 to be used toward their residence fees.

“From helping students achieve a higher academic average and providing them with a strong sense of community to placing them in closer proximity to professors and campus resources and encouraging them to get involved in all that Trent has to offer, the benefits of residence life are numerous,” says Nona Robinson, associate vice president Students, Office of Student Affairs. “This new award gives local students the opportunity to explore all of this while also enjoying the benefits of staying close to home. It’s the benefit of having a world-class university in your very own community – and it’s Trent’s way of saying thank you to our neighbours in Peterborough.”

In addition to the Residence Award, Trent University is also offering another incentive for new students – the first-ever Trent Humanities Award, in recognition of students’ pursuit of education in this important area of study.

The Trent Humanities Award will provide students with $500 to put towards covering some of the typical costs of university, outside tuition, including books, apparel, food on campus or in downtown Peterborough. The award is available to all applicants with a 75 per cent average or higher who accept their offer to the humanities.
