More than 400 paddlers and their vintage canoes from around the world are converging at Trent University this weekend as part of the annual General Assembly of the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA).

This is the first time this event has been held at Trent University. Members of the WCHA were attracted to the University’s beautiful campus setting, affordable summer accommodation and unique location alongside the Otonabee River. Guests from across Canada, the United States and as far away as Sweden will be taking part in this family-oriented gathering.

Trent University’s Conference Services have been working with the WCHA to plan this event since 2006. The four-day event encompasses a host activities and skill-building workshops, such as canoe sailing, seat caning, canoe restoration, paddle carving, food drying, and a group paddle through the famous Peterborough Liftlocks.

For more information about hosting unique events at Trent University, please visit the Conference and Hospitality Services website.
