Clinics will be held in the Trent Community Sport & Recreation Centre gymnasium September 21 and 22

Blood Donor/One Match Clinic at Trent toIn honour of Trent student David Smyth, the University is hosting a blood drive/One Match Clinic in the Trent Community Sport & Recreation Centre gymnasium on Tuesday, September 21 and Wednesday, September 22, 2010.

The blood drive will be held from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and the One Match Clinic, a simple cheek swab to become a potential stem cell and bone marrow donor, will be from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

All members of the Trent and Peterborough communities are invited and encouraged to participate in this clinic. You could help save a life.

The Trent University community was saddened to learn that David Smyth, a student from Oakville, passed away earlier in September from a long term illness. David had been battling Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome (SDS), a rare form of leukemia. He was planning to begin his second year of studies at Trent this fall.

The One Match Clinic at Trent was an event that David was proud of. David's last note posted on his Facebook page expressed how happy he was that Trent students and administration were willing to host the drive at the University.
