From Arabic for Beginners to Bee Keeping: Continuing Education Program Expands for Spring 2016
Registration now open for Peterborough community to pick-and-learn from over 100 classes for only $20 per class
The basics of bee keeping, computers for everyone, and Arabic for beginners – these are just a few of the many classes being offered through Trent University’s Continuing Education program, taught by Trent graduate students every night of the week, starting the week of March 14.
Trent University’s Continuing Education program will continue their updated and expanded “pick and learn” format for spring 2016, where community members have the chance to “choose their own adventure” by registering for single classes or full six or eight week courses.
“I am very excited about our spring line-up of Continuing Education courses,” said Dr. Michael Eamon, director of Continuing Education at Trent University. “This year we have the most diverse selection of adult learning classes since we started our ‘Choose-Your-Adventure’ format. From Arabic to Genealogy and from Bee Keeping to Environmental Sustainability, we have courses that will interest you and won’t hurt your pocketbook.”
Courses are compiled into three main groups: Language & Culture; Science & Environment; and Writing & History. Students are invited to learn a new language, find out more about the environment, improve their day-to-day math abilities, or hone their computer skills.
“I am particularly happy that we’re offering Arabic for Beginners as a class this spring,” said Professor Eamon. “The Peterborough community has been incredible to welcome refugees from the Syrian conflict with open arms. Yet, one huge stumbling block can be day-to-day communications. These classes will offer invaluable lessons into the Arabic language and the culture of Arabic–speaking countries.”
All classes can be found, selected and paid for online. To ensure high quality, cutting-edge instruction, Continuing Education uses almost exclusively graduate students enrolled at Trent as instructors.
Classes are held evenings, Monday through Friday, at Trent University’s Traill College on London Street. All classes are two hours in length, start at 7:00 p.m. and are only $20 per class.
