Trent Students to Host Buy Local Market January 20
Local Businesses Encouraged to Showcase Merchandise and Services at First Annual Market
As a means of encouraging Trent students to buy locally, the Trent Central Student Association (TCSA) is hosting the first annual Buy Local Market on Wednesday, January 20 in the Gzowski College Atrium. The market will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature vendors and businesses from the local Peterborough community.
“The idea came from the Buy Local Campaign that was run here in Peterborough,” explained Jessica Monteith of the TCSA. “The goal is to have Trent students shop locally rather than online, and of course to introduce the vendors to the buying market we have at Trent.”
To date, many local businesses have confirmed their participation in the event, including:
Sympathy for the Rebel, Mark Jokinen Books, Kawartha TV & Stereo, Hi Ho Silver, All Creatures Great & Small, Peterborough Museum & Archives, Dreams of Beans, Fab Collectibles, Hotcakes Body, Champlain College, Jewellery Essence, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and PowerZone Spa.
Vendor tables are still available. The cost of one table is $100 or $50 for non-profit organizations. All the proceeds from the event will go towards supporting TCSA projects, including the food bank, financial aid and events.
For more information, or to book a table, contact Jessica Monteith at TCSA at (705) 748-1000 ext. 6275 or by email at advertising@trentcsa.ca
