Global Ambassador Program
Building a strong, supportive community for international students at Trent.

Trent’s Global Ambassador Program embodies the supportive, diverse, and interconnected culture of the Trent community.

This volunteer, peer-run mentorship program is designed to help first-year international students transition to life in Canada and at Trent University. Through the program, first-year international undergraduate students connect with an upper-year international student on our Global Ambassador team who provides guidance and support before arrival and throughout their first year at Trent.

You can connect with upper-year students with similar experiences, giving you the knowledge and confidence to reach your full potential. The Global Ambassador Program also provides upper-year international students with the opportunity to develop their leadership and communication skills, while fostering a stronger and more connected international community at Trent.

Benefits of the Global Ambassador Program for first-year international undergraduate students

Starting your undergraduate degree can be challenging, especially in a new country. Trent’s Global Ambassador Program automatically pairs all first-year international undergraduate students with a Global Ambassador who will be your mentor as you prepare to arrive in Canada and during your first year of university.

Your Global Ambassador will contact you through your Trent email once you have accepted your offer.

Interested in becoming an upper-year Global Ambassador?

Global Ambassador positions are available every year at Trent Peterborough and Trent Durham GTA. If you are interested in mentoring new international students at Trent by sharing your own experiences, we invite you to apply to become a Global Ambassador.

The Global Ambassador Program will:

  • Connect you with a diverse community of friends from around the world
  • Build your resume by strengthening your communication and leadership skills
  • Be added to your Co-curricular record and potentially lead to a professional reference
Eligibility Criteria and How to Apply

To be eligible to become a Global Ambassador, you must be:

  • A current, returning international undergraduate student at Trent University that has completed your first year of study.
  • Available to serve as a Global Ambassador for a 12-month period from April to next April.
  • Available to contribute 2.5 – 3 hours per week towards the program.
  • Willing to answer emails during the weekend and summer months.

Applications for the 2025 – 2026 academic year will open in March 2026.

Contact internationalfrontdesk@trentu.ca for more information about the Global Ambassador Program or to express interest in becoming a Global Ambassador.
