As an international student studying in Canada, you are required to file a Canadian income tax return. Your residency status determines how you will be taxed in Canada.

Tax Documents
The two most common tax documents you will encounter as an international student at Trent are the T2022a and T4A.

| T2202 – Tuition and Enrolment Certificate | The T2202 – Tuition and Enrolment Certificate is an income tax receipt issued by schools if you paid tuition fees that are eligible to claim on your income tax return. |
| T4A – Statement of Pension, Retirement, Annuity and Other Income | The T4A – Statement of Pension, Retirement, Annuity and Other Income states income generated through grants, scholarships, awards, and other income related to your education. |

Where can I find my tax documents from Trent?
Tax documents will be made available to you in late February through the myTrent portal. To find your tax documents:
- Log into the myTrent portal.
- Click on the Finances tab.
- Click on the Tax Forms icon.
- Open each link and print or download your eligible tax forms.
