When I chose to study IDS at Trent I could not have known where it would take me. It wasn’t until after I graduated did I understand how unique my experience was. The professors and instructors are wonderful, the classes are small and hands on, and the expectations are challenging. For me, rising to these challenges was extremely empowering, and showed me how much I was capable of. I feel like this experience must be similar for many IDS students because during my time at Trent I witnessed so many amazing and successful student-led initiatives in the community and on campus.
This is what I appreciate most about IDS and Trent. Not all universities have a student body that is so active and motivated to change the world around them; and a faculty that encourages and supports their efforts. I feel that upon graduation I was left with a new mindset and way of understanding and interpreting the world. I also have a whole network of like-minded friends and peers who are doing amazing things. Above all, I learned how much I could accomplish, and gained the confidence to take on new opportunities and endeavors that have presented themselves after my time at Trent.
