Frequently Asked Questions

The Regatta

What is a head race?

A head race is a time trial rowing race. Competitors take off from the start line one at a time and the winners are determined by who rowed the fastest, not who crossed the finish line first. Visit regattacentral.com for up-to-the-minute results.

Where is the best place to watch the rowing?

Watch the Head of the Trent from the newly opened West Bank retaining wall, the Faryon Bridge finish line, or from the Student Centre. With the Otonabee River running through campus, there are many prime regatta viewing locations to cheer on the Trent and Peterborough rowing club athletes.

Where can I find regatta results?

Visit regattacentral.com for up-to-date regatta results. Look for the QR code on signs around campus to access quickly from your phone.

Licensed Area

Where is the licensed area? Who can enter? Is there a cover charge?

The licensed area is now in The Céilie, right by the waterfront, with a perfect view of the finish line! It’s an all-ages space - no cover required. Everyone 19+ with a valid government-issued ID will be wristbanded.

While you're soaking up the excitement, consider supporting the Trent University Rowing Club. Donations help fund coaching, training and equipment costs, ensuring they can continue to compete at the highest level. Your support makes a lasting impact on the future of rowing at Trent.

Kid's Zone

Is there a cost to have my child’s face painted?

Face painting is free for all children and will be available from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the LEC Lawn. Please note that face painting is exclusively for kids.

Can I drop my kids off here while we’re on campus?

Parents/guardians are required to supervise their children at all times while on Trent's campus. No supervision is provided in the Kid's Zone, or elsewhere on campus.

Parking & Transit

Where can I park? Is there a fee to park?

Ample parking is available on the East Bank, with a short walk across the bridge to West Bank. Parking on West Bank is available although limited. Parking is free on campus on Saturday, October 4, 2025 as part of Head of the Trent. West Bank Drive will be closed between G Lot (Lady Eaton College) and Alumni House (Champlain College), and some parking lots are designated for specific user groups.

Please do not park on the shoulder of the road on campus, or on Nassau Mills Road around campus.

Are the buses free to ride?

The City of Peterborough transit will be operating buses to and from the Symons Campus. Trent students are encouraged to use their bus pass, otherwise standard fares apply. To support City Transit, Trent University has chartered free schools buses that will loop between Blackburn Hall and the Simcoe Street Bus Terminal, travelling down Armour Road.

All bus stops on West Bank, including the Athletic Centre, Childcare Centre and Bata Library, will be moved to Blackburn Hall on Saturday, October 4, 2024.

Where will the shuttle pick up/drop off? What time will it run?

The chartered school bus shuttle will run between 12:30 - 8:00 p.m., between Blackburn Hall and the Simcoe Street bus terminal, via Armour Road and Hunter Street. There are no stops between the Campus and downtown.

All bus stops on West Bank, including the Athletic Centre, Childcare Centre and Bata Library, will be moved to Blackburn Hall on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Varsity Game

Is there a fee to enter the Justin Chiu Stadium?

$10 entry fee per person. Free for Trent University Students and children 12 and under.
