The Experience

Gender & Social Justice explores gender relations across cultures, throughout history, and in contemporary societies, including the ways in which gender interacts with sexuality, race, class, age and ability in local and global contexts. In this program, you will explore a broad range of feminist perspectives on health, history, labour, popular culture, social movements, law, the environment social policy, the arts and globalization. You will develop an interdisciplinary understanding of feminist thought and practice, including dynamic intersections with critical race, critical disability, decolonial, and critical sexuality studies. Study and live your passion for gender and social justice, while learning skills transferrable to everyday life and a full range of careers.

What Can I Do With a Gender & Social Justice Degree?

You will acquire a strong foundation in critical race and gender analysis required for the critical equity lens increasingly valued in the community and places of work. Many of our students go on to work in human resources, human rights law, or community development because of the training in equity our Gender & Social Justice program is uniquely designed to provide. 

With guidance and mentorship from leading faculty researchers and activists, you'll cultivate a strong critical thinking, communication, and social awareness skills increasingly sought after in a variety of sectors, including social work, education, politics, and business, just to name a few.
