Artist Profile Sidney Hutter
Born in Champaign, Illinois in 1954, Sidney Hutter studied at Illinois State University (1972), The Pilchuck Glass Center (1975), Massachusetts College of Art (1977), and Lowell Institute of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1980). Hutter combines polished glass, rough glass and pigments to create works through cutting, polishing, and laminating. He uses a unique technique to add pigments to the adhesive when laminating that gives the works their color, and is among the first artists in the world who experimented with laminated glass techniques. He is presently working out of his studio in Newton, MA.
