From Gallery to Campus: A Legacy of Art and Collaboration

Sandra Ainsley and her son and business partner, Daniel Ainsley, played a central role in shaping the Patterson-Ainsley Collection. They worked closely with David and Anne Patterson as the art collection evolved, and then with Trent University in bringing this philanthropic gift to life.  

Founders of the renowned Sandra Ainsley Gallery, established in 1984 in Toronto, Sandra and Daniel have built one of North America’s leading contemporary glass art galleries, representing more than 60 artists including some of the world’s most celebrated glass creators.  

As trusted collaborators on the Patterson-Ainsley Collection, Sandra and Daniel guided the thoughtful installation of the art works across both Trent campuses. Their shared vision ensures that each piece enhances its surroundings, weaving art into the daily rhythm of learning and discovery at Trent.
