Roberta Bondar
Artist Profile Roberta Bondar
Born in 1945, Roberta Bondar is a Canadian Astronaut and an artist. Roberta received an undergraduate degree University of Guelph, before she graduated with an MS in Experimental Pathology from University of Western Ontario, and finally finished her PhD in Neuroscience from University of Toronto, along with a Doctor of Medicine from McMaster University. After retiring from the Canadian Space Agency, Roberta studied professional photography at Brooks Institute of Photography in California. She is known for being the first Canadian woman in space, as well as for her artistic pursuits. As an astronaut, Bondar has a unique perspective on the earth’s natural landscapes, and her works aim to highlight and celebrate this beauty. She currently works at the Roberta Bondar Foundation.
