Graeme Bishop

Graeme studied Ancient History and Classics, Philosophy, and Astrophysics during his Bachelor’s studies at Trent University between 2006-2010. From 2010 to 2016, he worked in North Eastern Ontario in various mining/extraction-related jobs, including three years underground in a hardrock gold mine in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Graeme's current thesis-development in the Theory, Culture and Politics program includes Land-based critical theory and the problematization of –and ontology of– the ‘Anthropocene’, applying the method of ‘Critical Topography’ and ‘semiology/phenomenology of place’ advanced by Dr. Jonathan Bordo. Broad academic interests include the history of the early dominionization of ‘Canada’, the histories of Western Geology, Science, and Industrialization, ‘Natural History’, Media theory, Sociology, and ‘complex systems’ theory

Jordon studied Law Clerk at Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology from 2013-2015. From 2015-2019 he studied Political Science and Philosophy at Laurentian University. Jordon has a passion for politics, being an avid volunteer on political campaigns and a social activist whose main focuses are labour rights, education, and human rights. Jordon’s broad research interests are in Marxism, German Idealism (Hegelianism), Social Movements, and International Theory. Jordon is currently situating his research in the stream of media theory with the goal of revitalizing Marxism, Hegelianism and social movements within social media.
