It's a great pleasure to announce the 2024-5 Gregory R. Frith Arts Prize has been awarded to two artworks:
-
Brooklynne Melburn, "Ó:nenhste" (sculpture)
Jinian Harwig, "an active dying" (film)
Five artworks were shortlisted for the award: Cohen Arndt-Perris' "Apron," Melissa Wilson's "The Boundaries are Being Recontextualized," and Sara Morrison's "Weaving through Grieve" (which received "Honourable Mention). We were impressed and delighted with the calibre of all the entries received this year, which made our final decision a very difficult one.
Both winning artworks while different, engaged the audience in active experience that pushed our understanding of the medium and the world around us. Both are true examples of research-creation, and we can't wait to share them with you, along with 16 artworks submitted to the prize, at the Culture X exhibition at Artspace Annex from June 6-26).
Thank you for your submissions and keep making great art!
Warmly,
The 2024-5 Gregory R. Frith Arts Prize Committee
