Students Discussed the Scholarship of Champlain and his Legacy
Who was Samuel de Champlain? Panelists held a student-led review and debate of select scholarly works that address the legacy of Samuel de Champlain.
This event for Trent students, faculty and alumni featured students in Anthropology, History, Indigenous Studies, Philosophy, Canadian Studies alongside members from various College Cabinets who took time to review the following works:
- “Champlain Judged by His Indian Policy: A Different View of Early Canadian History,” an article by Bruce Trigger.
- Chapter 14 of Champlain’s Dream by David H. Fischer.
- Excerpts of Finding Champlain’s Dream, by various authors.
