Recruitment & Admissions

The Recruitment and Admissions Office acts as the first point of contact for prospective students interested in attending an undergraduate program at Trent University.

The teams’ core activities include:

  • Application and admissions advising
  • Presentations at Canadian high schools
  • Attendance at education or career fairs
  • Organizing Special events for prospective students including open house, scholar’s dinners, transfer BBQs and campus tours
  • Special events for guidance counsellor and colleges
  • Evaluating applications and supporting the unique needs of individual students
  • Strategic data analysis and institutional research
  • Collaboration with other departments and universities.

Application and Admissions Advising

The Recruitment and Admissions Office guides and assists prospective students through the application and admission process.  Our dedicated team is available for support online, on the phone or in person to help all prospective students and applicants through every stage of becoming a Trent University student.

Presentations to Prospective Students

Our team of enrolment advisors travel across Canada to present the exceptional educational opportunity that Trent University offers. Presentation participants include high school students, post-secondary students, mature students, and home-schooled students to name a few.

Attendance at University and Career Fairs

A major event on the annual recruitment calendar is the Ontario Universities Fair in September. At the fair the Recruitment and Admissions team speak with prospective students about programs, admissions, residences, and student life. In addition to the University Fair we also attend other events such as career fairs, Regional Dialogues, college fairs and other student focused events.

On Campus Recruitment Events

Throughout the year the Recruitment and Admissions team hosts a series of special events on campus for prospective students. Our open house’s and other special events like the transfer BBQ and scholar’s dinner are geared towards making the transition to Trent University as smooth as possible.

Guidance Counsellors and College Events

Secondary school guidance counsellors are an important part of the applicant’s decision making process and Trent’s R&A team regularly dispatch communications, hold outreach events and information sessions for them. The team also works with individual colleges and academic advisors to assist students looking to transfer to university.

Student Admissions

The Recruitment and Admissions team works closely with Trent applicants to help them make informed decisions about their education.  The team works hard to give prospective students a seamless transition through the admissions cycle (applying, receiving your offer, accepting your offer, being evaluated for transfer credits, etc.).  Trent University is one of the few postsecondary institutions in Ontario that goes beyond the black and white grade average and truly considers the needs and fit of the individual student that is key to our personal and transformative environment.

New Student Transition

Trent University’s Recruitment and Admissions team works with other university departments to ensure a smooth transition for all new incoming students.

Collaboration with Other Departments and Universities

Cooperation and collaboration within the university landscape is an important part of Recruitment and Admissions. The team works closely with the Office of Institutional Research to analyze trends, track applications and admissions and discover new opportunities. Also, sharing information with other institutions allows for stronger professional development and keeps the team up to date on the latest trends and best practices in recruitment and admissions.
