Duties
Reporting to the Communications and Creative Services Manager, the Communications Student will assist the Communications department with written and visual communications for internal and external audiences. This position will offer hands-on experience drafting and developing written content and digital media to support the delivery of County services throughout Northumberland County.
Digital Media & Design:

Durham Region, Environment and Climate: Climate Action & Communications Assistant
The Regional Municipality of Durham is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic student to support climate action and communications initiatives. This part-time placement offers hands-on experience in municipal climate programming, community engagement, and public communications while contributing to projects that advance Durham Region’s climate change goals.
Duties:
Event Support & Engagement
- Assist with planning, logistics, community engagement, setup, and takedown for the Annual Fall Climate Forum on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Durham Region Headquarters.
- Support preparations and logistics for the Durham Greener Buildings Fall Recognition Event on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 12welve Bistro.
Communications & Outreach
- Develop tailored messaging and communications for diverse audiences through website updates, blog posts, media releases, and community engagement.
- Assist in drafting and editing content for newsletters, social media, and internal communications that highlight climate programs and initiatives.
- Support the soft launch of the Durham Greener Homes Climate-Ready Program in September, helping to engage residents across the Region.
Research & Reporting
- Provide research support for the development, promotion, and implementation of the Region’s climate change plans.
- Assist with writing staff reports, funding applications, annual reports, and other project documentation.
- Collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and departmental staff to support climate-related research, data collection, and reporting.
Digital Tools & Data
- Transition the current Community Climate Dashboard to a Power BI platform, including building new sections, collecting data, and documenting metrics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Environmental Studies, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Experience with social media platforms, content creation tools, and accessibility standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) is an asset.

Durham Community Health Centre Durham Community Health Centre (DCHC) is a registered, charitable organization that provides integrated, accessible, and equitable community based primary care, wellness services, and health education to Durham community members who face multiple barriers to their health and well-being. The student will focus on writing engaging articles and feature stories highlighting our teams, clients, and community partners. These stories will showcase the positive impact of our programs and services, and help inform community members about the many ways DCHC can support them. Key Responsibilities Research, interview, and write articles/features on DCHC staff, clients, programs, and community partners. Collaborate with staff to identify story ideas that reflect our mission and values. Develop content for newsletters, website, and social media channels. Ensure all written materials are clear, accurate, and accessible to a broad audience. Support the Communications team with other writing or outreach projects as needed.

We’re a Toronto-based production company working across branded and originals, and we’re looking for a Communications/Media Studies student to join our team for a COMM4800Y placement. This is a chance to dive into real-world production, from client campaigns to our very first feature film, documentary, true crime podcast, and docuseries. You’ll be hands-on in everything from research and strategy to being on set and supporting postproduction.
